Alberto Juan
Watch the video here.
Alberto Juan came to the United States from Manila, Phillippines. During the recession, lack of local experience and older age even made it harder to find employment.
With a passion for helping other people, he found a connection in St. Barnabas Senior Center through NAPCA SCSEP. Alberto was assigned to the kitchen to prepare meals for seniors. During the training, he acquired the necessary skills and eventually earned the professional food service manager certificate. Serving the seniors by making them feel valued and happy reminds Alberto of his parents.
NAPCA’s SCSEP placements help seniors develop the skills and find placement with community service organizations that benefit from the rich diversity of a lifetime of experience and connection that elders bring to the workforce.
