Nanako taught foreign languages to a wide variety of students from pre-K 3-year-olds to businesspersons for over a decade. Two years ago, she decided to go back to graduate school to study social work with interest in serving immigrant and refugee population. For her MSW, Nanako interned at a refugee resettlement agency, assisting refugees with employment-related matters as well as another social services agency serving the AAPI community. Internships have granted her case management and clinical experience, and she has witnessed firsthand how lack of employment or underemployment can affect one’s wellbeing.
