National Consortium on Aging Resources for Senior’s Equity

The Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, includes provisions to “increase awareness of citizens of all ages of the need to assume personal responsibility for their own longevity.” In response to this provision, the Administration for Community Living established the National Minority Aging Organizations Technical Assistance Centers Program. Through this program, funds are awarded to national minority aging organizations which represent each of the major ethnic minority and LGBT older populations. Together, these organizations form the National Consortium on Aging Resources for Seniors’ Equity.

In 2015, NAPCA was awarded funds through this program and, collectively with four other national minority aging organizations, participates in the Consortium.

NAPCA’s goal is to increase the Aging Network’s capabilities to reach and serve AAPI older adults and their family caregivers. To do this, NAPCA established the National Resource Center on AAPI Aging, which provides technical assistance to aging organizations on elder justice, dementia, family caregiving, and long-term services and supports.
